  ICOMOS is an international non-governmental organisation of professionals, dedicated to the conservation of the world's historic monuments and sites. ICOMOS provides a forum for professional dialogue and a vehicle for the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of information on conservation principles, techniques, and policies. ICOMOS participates actively in the UNESCO World Heritage committee and monitors the fulfilment of UNESCO world heritage conventions. ICOMOS has national committees in more than 110 countries as well as 21 scientific committees.
